Coffee Together

Coffee Dates

Coffee Together | Vol. 3

If we were having coffee together, I’d first ask you where you’d like to go. I’m horrible at making decisions, and when people step up to make those decisions for me, I feel so relieved. Starbucks? A small coffee shop? Which would you prefer, friend?

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you I’m being more intentional in studying the Word. I love scripture, and I love spending time in the Word. But friends, I struggle at making daily habits stick. It’s so easy to excuse yourself from time with the Lord when schedules are busy, chores need to be done, etc. In 2017, I’m being more intentional in reading/studying the Word, and I’m seeing the fruit of that habit coming out in my life. Also, shoutout to Lara Casey’s PowerSheets for keeping me on track with my daily habits!

If we were having coffee together, I’d ask you if you had any tips for moving. We decided to move earlier this spring, and it’s getting exciting! Our moving date (March 16th) is coming so soon, and I literally have two boxes packed. I’m so excited to move into our new place & make it home, but man, I have no motivation to pack boxes! I’m hoping after my last day of work, the motivation for packing will be put in hyperdrive (here’s hoping).

If we were having coffee together, I’d ask you about your friendships. I’ve never been one to have many friends. In fact, I’ve never had more than 2-3 really good friends at one time, and they were pen pals of mine. For some reason, I really struggle with friendship & communicating with people. As an introvert, I often have ‘spurts’ of friendliness, then withdraw from communicating for weeks. It’s something I’m really working on, and I’m learning just how sweet good, strong friendships are, and how they need to be cultivated rather than left to grow on their own. Gosh, you guys–friendships are so good. So thankful for people.

If we were having coffee together, I would ask about Valentine’s Day. I’m always interested to hear how other people celebrate holidays. What do you do for Valentine’s Day? Do you embrace it fully, or forget about it? Do you celebrate with your best friends, too? Also, who else goes to the store on the 15th to buy the discounted chocolate? (I hope I’m not the only one!).

If we were having coffee together, I’d ask you about screen time. Oh, friend. I use my phone way too often. It’s something I’m really convicted of, and I know I need to set boundaries for my devices. I downloaded the app Moment to my phone (as per a friend’s recommendation), and it’s so eye-opening. It tracks your daily phone usage in the background, and it’s so crazy to look at how attached I am to my devices. It’s really made me become more intentional in using Airplane Mode & saying “no” to mindless scrolling.

If we were having coffee together, I’d rave on and on about LipSense. I’m usually quite careful in buying products from companies like these, but oh my goodness, this stuff was worth it. You know those videos you’ve seen online with women wearing lip colour & rubbing their lips all over glasses & napkins? They’re showing off their LipSense! This stuff literally lasts all day, and doesn’t budge. I still don’t understand how it works, but okay. As long as it works for me, I don’t have to understand! My friend Rachel sells this fantastic stuff, and you can find her on Instagram under @rachels_lovely_lips. Seriously, go check this out!

The lovely Amber is the mastermind behind coffee date blog posts, and is currently taking a hiatus from blogging, but my lovely friend Erin is continuing these coffee dates over at her place. Want to join us? Head over here to link up.
